With the speeding up of urbanization process, the development of Chinese urban, especially the mountainous city will enter into a rapid development period featured by large-scale construction to be constructed, expanding urban space and tremendous changes in space structure. Rapid acceleration of urbanization will also generate heavy traffic demand, thus exacerbating the growing urban traffic problems. Therefore, research on the relationship between urban spatial structure and traffic mode in the mountainous cities is of important practical significance to resolve the contradiction between urban spatial structure and urban traffic systems in the mountainous city, to alleviate urban traffic problems and to guide urban transportation planning in a scientific manner.First, this paper introduces the concept and types of mountain city and urban spatial structure, analyzes the characteristics and evolution mechanism of spatial structure of mountainous city. Secondly, introduces the concept and composition of modern urban transport mode, pointing out the common urban transport modes, compared their index properties, preliminary obtain the suitability that various transport modes to the mountain city analyzes residents travel times, trip time consumption, trip travel mode and structure of mountainous city, discusses the impact that some key elements to traffic modes such as the level of motorization, transportation infrastructure, travel purpose, congestion fees. Then, after discuss the normal mutual interaction effect of urban spatial structure and traffic mode, study the particularity of mountain city. Based on the characteristics of spatial structure, traffic mode and interaction effect of mountain city, from a macro level, propose dynamic matching model of urban spatial structure and traffic mode of mountain city, from a micro-level, establish optimization model of urban spatial structure and traffic mode of mountain city. Finally, application analysis by using Chongqing which is a typical mountain city.Case analysis shows the theories and methods presented in the paper of distinguishing differences of spatial structure in the mountain city through group features, interaction effect between spatial structure and traffic mode in the mountain city and dynamic matching model and optimization model of spatial structure and traffic mode in the mountain city are able to better improve theories of and methods on the relationships between spatial structure and traffic mode in the mountain city and provide certain theoretical and technical support for scientific development and rational planning of urban city.
