As a carrier for human production and life, city has its characteristics like openness, dynamic and self-organization etc. The urban model is an effective tool which studies the evolution of urban spatial structure. The urban model often needs the massive data and the science computation, therefore until 1954, after the first computer produced, the urban model research, especially the model application can develop fastly.Wilson thinks that the real substantial model is used to the urban system is in the 20th century after 60 years, the urban system has been experienced the four stages, they are the city form and structural model which is represented by stronghold, the static urban model which is represented by steric interaction model, the macrodynamic urban model which is represented by the systematic dynamics, and the micromodel urban model which is represented by the cellular automaton. According to the urban transportation, terrain conditions, the SLEUTH model set the appropriate coefficients. As the improvement product based on cellular automaton, it is loosely coupled with GIS. The name SLEUTH was derived from the simple image input requirements of the models: Slope, Land cover, Excluded, Urbanization, Transportation, and Hillshade. Based on the above consideration, this paper uses SLEUTH model which based on the cellular automaton principle to simulate the evolution of spatial structure.First of all, the paper explains the purpose and significance of the topic being discussed, defines the main concepts, and briefly introduces the basic theories of spatial structure at home and abroad; and then analyzes the internal and external factors influencing the urban spatial structure , combing the spatial structure of the common mode simultaneously. Secondly, the historical evolution of Jiaozuo urban spatial structure is introduced, and then the evolution of Jiaozuo urban spatial structure is simulated by using SLEUTH model. During the simulation, model parameter calibration has been carried out through the remote sensing images of Jiaozuo City's different historical periods, getting the best model parameters series for the model simulation of Jiaozuo City, and realizing the localization of SLEUTH model, and then the historical simulations and future projections of the evolution of urban spatial structure in Jiaozuo City will be made. The paper analyzes and simulates the historical evolution process of Jiaozuo City from 1988 to 2008, contrasts the simulation results and remote sensing images to verify the accuracy of SLEUTH model and predicts the spatial evolutionary trends of Jiaozuo City from 2009 to 2020 by using the best model parameter. Finally, because SLEUTH model does not take into account such factors as population, economy and politics which have a significant effect on a regional urban spatial structure, the paper attempts to establish the regression equation between the urban development and population as well as economy by making the spatial and statistical correlation analysis of the simulation results and population and economic factors; and then from the aspects such as the urban planning, urban development policy, a huge project , the model is validated. Test results show that SLEUTH model can simulate and predict the evolution of the urban spatial structure in Jiaozuo, with a wide range of adaptability.
