Generally speaking, hoisting machinery has become the indispensable tools in the process of modern production. It plays an important role for an enterprise to manufacture safely and reduce accidents that the design of hoisting machinery is reasonable. In tradition, the hoisting machinery designed by people was bigger and waste problem existed. However, the emergence of the modern design shorts the cycle of design and speeds up the development of the method of design. On the premise of meeting the needs of the project, how to realize the rapid design of crane, reduce the weight of crane and improve enterprise economic benefits for people has more realistic significance.In this article, through the finite elemental software ANSYS, finite element model of gantry crane with electric hoist was build. The finite element model of crane was load. Static analysis and dynamic analysis provide the basis for optimal design. In this paper, the research content mainly includes:(1) Based on finite elemental theory, finite element model of gantry crane was established with APDL secondary development language. The model of gantry crane was load、statically analyzed and calculated. Through getting the maximum stress and the maximum deformation, the weak point in the structure of the crane.(2) Model analysis was carried out on the model of crane. The model frequency of the crane was gained. In addition, harmonic response analysis was carried out on the model of crane. The model frequency which has great influence on crane was gained, which provides a basis for optimal design of crane.(3) Based on optimal design of crane, making the structure of crane as the investigative object, making the overall quality and model frequency of the crane as optimal goal, and then optimize the size of the crane. Finally, reasonable size of the crane was gained. Besides, the result of design was proved to be rational.In this paper, the content we studied about the optimal design of the crane provides some theoretical methods, which has important guiding significance for the problem in the practice. It also provides a theoretical basis for the structural analysis and the optimal design of the crane.
