Research On Development And Planning Of Slow-traffic System Case Study

With the rapid development of China’s economy, the number of motor vehicles has also grown dramatically. The construction of urban traffic facilities are focused on motor vehicles, but the construction of slow traffic have been paid less attention, which has caused a series of traffic problems, such as traffic congestion, urban noise, air pollution, etc. Therefore people begin to fully consider the construction of urban transportation. In recent years, China has also begun to recognize the importance of slow traffic. Although slow traffic’s moving speeds is low, but its important position is irreplaceable. Slow traffic is a green way to travel, not only to reduce traffic congestion, but also help reduce air pollution. Therefore, the construction of urban slow traffic system is essential condition for city of healthy development.Through consulting a number of relevant literatures, this paper studies on urban slow traffic system, elaborates on the basic concepts and theories related to slow traffic, summarizes the research progress and status of slow traffic as well as successful cases of slow traffic and lays the theoretical foundation for the study of slow traffic system planning.According to study and research on the slow traffic system, we summed up the elements of building slow traffic system, and according to the elements of building the slow traffic system, we presented to use the accessibility and fully of facilities of the slow traffic system as the main index in the evaluation system. Finally, on the bases of the index contents, we proposed the design guidelines and requirements for the slow traffic facilities and slow traffic environment, and we hope this can guide the slow traffic system planning.Finally, downtown Changsha as an example, according to the construction elements of the slow traffic system, investigation and analysis of Changsha city characteristics, status of pedestrian traffic and bicycle transportation system, as well as slow traffic Changsha residents travel characteristics, according to city slow traffic overall evaluation form to evaluate Changsha’s slow traffic system, and then to provide guidance on Changsha City slow traffic system, and to build a nationwide livable model city. The final chapter is summarized and prospected, through the earlier chapters of discussion and research, draw conclusions, and the innovation of this paper were summarized. Meanwhile, in view of the deficiency of technology are discussed, and the future of Changsha slow system construction were discussed.
