In the modern automobile industrial technology, the vehicle ride comfort depends on the performance of the automobile shock absorber system affects. Suspension spring is a main part of the damping function in the automobile damper system. The main purpose of this study is optimizing the spiral spring damping performance and improving vehicle ride comfort. The project has been funded as a research project by the Education Department of Guangxi.(Gui teaching and research [2007] No.34, Project number:200700ZL034).Based on the principle of nonlinear elasticity characteristic curve of elastic element, to improve the structure of the ordinary spiral spring and design a new damping spring structure of variable rigidity, the elastic properties of line segment fitting elastic element nonlinear elasticity characteristic curve. Assembled in series these2kinds of spiral spring with different damping rigidity. The structure products different compression stroke in different loads, then the spiral spring working alone or in combination group, then it could form variable damper stiffness which required by the damping.Anglicizing the new type damping spring structure and implementation process can use the new type vibration damping spring structure of helical spring in automobile suspension, and, analysis and design calculation of the correlation properties of application of a new type of damping spring in automobile suspension system.Using the UG software to modeling analysis the variable stiffness helical spring’s work, to simulation analysis the spring’s working condition in the all or different levels damping working area. Then we could get and analysis the alignment parameters from the different damping working area.Using the variable damping stiffness of the coil springs structure in the aut omotive suspension. It could reduce the damping system’s vibration frequenc y when the car is shocking, improve the damping system’s working flexible. Then the car will be more smooth and soft when it is shifting, further, we could improve the car’s ride comfort.
