The important equipment called circuit breaker plays a essential role in protecting the circuit and facilities of the electrical power system. The invention of PMA (permanent magnetic actuator) supplied the substantial base for the achievement of the high reliability and intellectualize of the circuit breaker. The function of the intelligent controller for the circuit breaker with permanent magnetic actuator is controlling the switch on and off at the most suitable time, which could minimize the closing surge and the overvoltage of the break-brake. The PMA controller, designed by separated component, is made of hardware completely, but it is composed of complex circuit and involves few function and poor flexibility. Another project, designed by SCM, exists the phenomenon of program fleet, namely this model will easily cause the program break away from the normal track, and run in the unpredictably illegal circulation on the generation that the pointer of the order address disturb by the external interference. The PMA controller, adopted the FPGA, realizes all the complete electronic control function by pure hardware without any software control. The circuit system is put into a small chip which replace the circuit board. It is a advanced and reliable project and its character is extremely appropriate for the PMA controlling.In this thesis, the working principle of several sorts of the PMA circuit breaker and the intelligent phase-selection switch controlling technology of the PMA controller are analyzed and introduced based on the introduction of the project background and the research situation. The FPGA processor mode is compared with MCU and DSP mode. The design project of the PMA intelligent controller is established and its feasibility is also proved. The controller, with the core processor FPGA, increases the flexibility of the hardware structure, makes various controlling algorithms and peripheral equipments integrate on the SOC, improves the performance and functional expansibility of the intelligent controller. The hardware and the software of the controller both adopt the method of modularized design. Besides the basic controlling function, the intelligent controller involves the module of communication and man-machine port, which greatly improve the data instantaneity and maneuverability. For the software, the core controlling program is based on hardware description language and the switching model is ideally simulated in Matlab and the design principle and the functional achievement of every module of the intelligent controller is introduced in detail.The test of the PMA circuit breaker intelligent controller is debugging in the laboratory of the research group. The experimental result shows the design of this intelligent controller, adopting the scheme in this thesis, achieving the expecting function and reaching the performance.
