Protection Research Of The Small Towns’ Historical Features In Northern Jiangsu Province Under The New-type Urbanization Background

In the past30years of rapid urbanization process, we focused on studying moreabout of the "Heritage, neighborhood, ancient town and village" protection, and now weclearly see that many of the small towns are “saying farewell to the tradition” which areeffected by urban marginalization and rural urbanization. Research on the historicalstyles and features is clearly of no research significance, if we are still confined to thelevel of architectural remains to be well-preserved. In the current context of new-typeurbanization, we should broaden researching perspective involving more essential andcomprehensive field of small towns’ historical styles and features. The old protectiontheories and methods of historical towns are developed slowly, which can not be fullyapplicable to nowadays’ rapid advancing protection. we need to find out the natures androots of protection problems about styles and features, and work out the targetedprotection measures by basing on the status quo and being guided under the new-typeurbanization goals.This thesis is based on the starting point, it studied the small town in NorthernJiangsu Province as its main object, and the thesis explored the protection strategy onsmall towns and villages. The article gave a detailed interpretation about the new-typeurbanization by sorting the relevant literatures, and at the same time it expanded on thestudy of " the historical styles and features of the small town " in time and space,concluded and summarized the differences in the protection of historical styles andfeatures of the small town under new-type urbanization and the basic problems to besolved. The paper analysed on the related issues of the universal the historical styles andfeatures in Northern Jiangsu Province small towns through the field research, elaboratedthe protection systems adapted to the development of small towns in Northern JiangsuProvince by combination with the basic requirements of the new-type urbanization andthe protection of historical styles and features from the principles, methods, measuresand implementation mechanisms and so on.In the end from the conclusions above, this thesis regarded the Anfeng Town as theempirical case, put forward the measures of protection of the historical styles andfeatures in the Anfeng Town based on the actual situation, and predicted theeffectiveness of measure implementation and the possible problems. The paper hopesthat it could guide the healthy and harmonious development of the Anfeng Town under the new-type urbanization background.
