Combining theoretical analysis and experimental means to promote the giant windturbine design and control is an important way to research the technology of windpower. Due to the field environment constraints, it is very limited to obtain theresearch data form wind farm which is used to research the wind turbineperformances. The indoor simulation experimental platform can effectivelycompensate for the deficiency to a certain extent. This paper focuses on how to builda wind turbine simulation platform, the main contents and conclusions are asfollows:(1) It describes the significance of wind power experiment platform as well as thelimitations of existing indoor wind power simulation platform. On this basis, a2KWpermanent magnet direct drive wind power experiment platform scheme of windturbines is proposed, which can simulate the performances of not only land windturbines but also offshore wind turbines. The experimental platform consists of winddevices, wind turbine, generator, tower, floating foundation, wave simulationdevices, sensor detection and data acquisition systems, etc. Which can meet the testrequirements of the dynamic characteristics of the land and offshore wind turbines.(2)By comparing the basic characteristics of offshore floating foundation ofspar-type foundation, LTP foundation and Tri-floater foundation, ultimately selectthe Tri-floater foundation to build the floating foundation of experimental platform.Analyzing the principle of Tri-floater foundation structure of anti-overturning andthe structural parameter design of experimental platform is carried out. Byestablishing the force analysis model of the floating platform and according to theconstraints and engineering practice,the reasonable structural parameters areobtained.(3)It introduces the wind devices, electrical control system wave simulationdevices and the hardware and software design of test platform running conditionmonitoring system. According to the requirement of monitoring system to select theappropriate sensor and acquisition equipment and design the appropriate interfacecircuit. Based on LabVIEW developed covering data acquisition, data processing,operational control and other functional modules monitoring system software, enabling multi-channel data acquisition, on-line data analysis, storage andreproduction of data, the system has a friendly man interface and is easy to maintainand achieves expansion capabilities.(4)Based on the constructed experimental platform, experiments are tested. Itobtains the data of wind speed, voltage, tower vibration, etc. Which prove that theexperimental platform running with a very good condition. At the same time, theexperimental platform in output power and vibration conditions under differentsupport structures were tested.
