Research On MVD-based Conversion Between Architectural Model And Structural Model

In order to realize the interoperability of BIM (Building Information Modeling)in the whole lifecycle of building project, IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) standardprovides comprehensive support for defining data and exchange, and IDM(Information Delivery Manual) standard defines information exchange process andrequirements of the various phases in the building lifecycle, and MVD (Model ViewDefinition) applies the exchange requirements to the relative software with IFCSchema.In the stage of building design, architectural and structural model conversion isan urgent problem to be solved. BIM software needs to provide support for structuralengineers to change the situation of inefficient manual structural modeling accordingto architechtural model. However, what to be extracted and how to extract theinformation from architechtural model, as well as how to define the data format ofarchitechtural and structural model, all need to be standardizedly defined and thenimplemented in software.After describing the MVD standard format in detail, this paper defines thecomprehensive and standardized view of the structural analysis model with differentmodules, and expresses structural unit, connection, action and their relationships inthe IFC Schema, as well as the implement agreements of IFC entity object. Finally, incontrast to the similarity and difference of information expression between theIFC-based architectural physical model and structural analysis model file, the paperstudies the data representation of IFC-based architectural physical model.Then thealgorithm is proposed to extract the structural component information and calculateother information required for the IFC-based structural analysis model, whichprovides support for future program application.
