Steel reinforced concrete (SRC) structure has been widely used as high-risebuildings develop fast in recent decades. This type of structure has many notableadvantages, such as high strength, good seismic performance, and remarkable ductility,etc. Steel reinforced recycled concrete (SRRC) structure is that using recycled concreteinstead of the normal concrete in whole or in part in SRC. The application of recycledconcrete in SRC structure adds it more advantages. The new type of structure is green,good for environment and an option to save resources as well. In the future, this kind ofstructure will have a very big development space.At present, researches on steel reinforced recycled concrete structure are rather few.There are quite a few researches both on SRC structure and recycled concrete. However,there is no systematic study on SRRC structure. Furthermore, the quasi static study ofSRRC structure is more than pseudo dynamic research. In order to study the seismicperformance of SRRC structures and the the effect of recycled concrete in structuresunder seismic action, a1/2.5scaled model of two spans and three-story steel reinforcedrecycled concrete frame was made. The recycled coarse aggregate replacement rate is100%. The pseudo dynamic test was performed by the use of MTS Electro-HydraulicServo Loading System. In the pseudo-dynamic test, the structure was subjected todifferent seismic acceleration peak values of EL Centro (1940) N-S wave, Taft E-Wwave and Lanzhou wave. The strain response curve of rebar and steel,displacementtime history response curve, etc. were achieved by the simulation of seismic response. Combined with the observation of section steel, steel bar strain response and concretecrack development situation, the dynamic response,dynamic characteristic parameters,decrease of the stiffness, and ductility index of the SRRC framework are analyzed.Based on the pseudo dynamic test, combined with the related experimental results, thefinite element model of steel recycled concrete frame was established by the use ofOpensees platform. The elastic-plastic time-history of the SRRC frame model under theeffect of different seismic wave with different seismic peak acceleration was analyzed.By the comparison of experiments and theoretical analytic results, the design methodwas verified.Experimental results show that, the steel recycled concrete structure designed inaccordance with Technical specification for steel reinforced concrete compositestructures under seismic action displayed good ductility and it can totally satisfy the userequirement. The finite element model can be used for steel recycled concretecomponent and structural finite element analysis. The research results in this paper havereference significance to further study in the dynamic performance of steel reinforcedrecycled concrete structures.
