Belt-conveyor plays an important role in the bulk material transportation. Somebelt-conveyors are not convenient for manual monitoring and maintenance, whichhave long lines or are used in the severe environment, so safety accidents occur fromtime to time. Therefore, the belt-conveyor operation condition monitoring andcomprehensive protection is particularly important.The belt-conveyor operation condition monitoring and comprehensive protectionis not perfect now, and both are separately set and lack of contact, which causes repeatlayout of some equipments and increases construction and subsequent maintenanceworkload and the cost. For this purpose, the belt-conveyor fault recognition methodbased on speed is completed on the basis of the analysis of the belt-conveyor faults, inwhich the relationship between the speed parameter characteristics and operationstatus of belt-conveyor in the operation of the belt-conveyor is put forward, and thefault recognition methods are determined which are suitable for the belt-conveyoroperation condition monitoring and comprehensive protection system; the hardwareplatform of the belt-conveyor operation condition monitoring system is designed,including the selection of appropriate sensors and the reasonable arrangement to them,the statistics of the monitoring points, the selection of PLC and other hardwaremodules, the signal acquisition, the signal port distribution and the communication ofsystem equipments; the belt-conveyor operation condition monitoring software isdeveloped using STEP7MicroWIN and Kingview software, and the on-site andremote monitoring of the belt-conveyor operation condition is realized, the softwarehas the functions of the display of the operation condition parameters, the recognitionand alarm of faults, the display of the possible positions and reasons of faults, thedatabase, the display of trend curves, report generation and printing, data query, andother functions; a belt-broken catcher is designed, which include the up-belt brokencatcher and the down-belt broken catcher, the related analysis and calculation of thecatcher are done, the relationship between wedge car groove angle, the frictioncoefficient of related parts and the up-belt broken catcher braking reliability isobtained, and to provide the basis for the design of the belt-broken catcher structure sizes and parameters and the selection of number, at the same time, the belt-brokencatcher installation requirements are given; comprehensive protection software ofbelt-conveyor is developed, which controls the current belt-conveyor, upstreamequipments and downstream equipments and protector to realize the comprehensiveprotection of belt-conveyor.The belt-conveyor operation condition monitoring and comprehensive protectionsystem based on PLC can improve the efficiency and productivity of belt transportsystem, and can minimize the losses caused by the faults and reduce the productioncost, which has good application value.
