The Study Of Forms And Renovation Of Vernacular Architectures In Dongqianhu Area

Changes in traditional villages and the development of vernacular architecture areclosely related to local history, culture, and geography. The evolution of space in thevillage is actually the evolution of history and culture. Histories, culture and architecturesin Dongqianhu are high related and the architecture there has its unique features, whichprovides us with prominent academic values. Meanwhile, in recent years, with thedevelopment of the local economy and society, the transformations of traditional villagesand repair problems have become increasingly prominent. A good significance isidentified when the traditional villages and vernacular architectures are studied with theconsiderations of geographical environment and cultural identity awareness in the region.This study focuses on the form of vernacular architectures and the renovationmethods in Dongqianhu area, which includes the study of the local history and culture,analysis of village space distribution and architectures forms, and the renovation methods.Comparative theory and typology are used in this study to understand and providemethods of renovation for family compounds and public space. This study could have apositive impact on the sustainability of traditional villages and provides the experience andreference of other possible renovation in Dongqianhu area.
