Modern architectural education in Chinese Mainland has developed for nearlyone hundred years. There have been scholars for reflection. The author had beenexchange student in Taiwan for six months and had done a lot research andinvestigation on the undergraduate architectural education in depth, recognizing thatthere are many differences between Taiwan and Chinese Mainland. This papersummaries the distinction from the perspective of architecture to be helpful to thedevelopment of architectural education in mainland China.Architectural education in China is developing rapidly, but the quality isworrying. Most of the students graduate from colleges are lack of the education ofculture, aesthetics and other basic qualities. If architects only to be educated advancedtechnology and architectural thoughts, lacking of improving their personal cultivationand potential, the local characteristics of the buildings would unable to obtain theinherit and carry forward. How the architectural education in Taiwan pay attention tothese aspects and how can we use is the meaning and the purpose of the paper.This paper reviews the history of modern architectural education in Taiwan,chooses eight representative schools of architecture to make a comparison andresearch in aspects of educational objectives, credits configuration, curriculumarrangement, teacher resources and assignment evaluation, and sums up the basicframework and main characteristics. The fourth and the fifth chapters elaborate sixtypical schools and three important persons in architectural education in Taiwan.Finally, in the conclusion part of this paper, the author listed and analyzed the existingproblems of architectural education in Chinese Mainland, hoped to lead to deepreflection on it, and look forward to a better future.
