Underground rail (train, tube) projects involve many specialists, various ways ofconstruction; the construction itself requires large amount of energy and resources, produceswaste and pollutants like waste water, waste gas, rubbish, dust, noise and strong light,andendangers the surrounding environment and safety. With the deepened understanding of’sustainability’ and ’green’ concepts today, the construction of underground rail must adhere to’green construction’, realize ’four savings and one environment protection’,avoid safety andenvironmental breach,reduce the negative impact on the daily operation of the city and thedaily lives of local residents,and build ’green underground rail’。Due to the uniqueness of the underground projects, it requires the analyze andimprovement on the green construction techniques and management, it calls for further studythe theory, methodology, management and technology of green underground construction, sothat the green construction standard and techniques that are unique to and suitable forunderground rail construction can be developed.This thesis utilizes the methodologies of field research, literature survey, quantifiedanalysis, case study etc., with the overviewing of national and international underground railconstruction project development, focusing on the analysis of energy and resourceconsumption as well as the major impacts on the local environment and worker’s safety,itevidences the importance and urgency of green underground construction, mainly bringsforward the strategies and key aspects in green management, as well as the key techniques ingreen construction. Finally, the thesis further analyses and summarizes the green constructionbased on the case study of ’Shenzhen Metro line9project’.The thesis is founded on the uniqueness of underground rail project,details the keystrategies in green techniques and green management,concludes a direction for greentechnology and development focused on green material, green machinery, green constructionmethod, green modeling, industrialized build, digitalized construction, reuse of resource andwaste etc..
