With the development of society and technology, family life are changingthat people are busy and have few time to live with their parents. Itbecomes difficult to get face to face communication between families.Instead they access to families indirectly through technical and othermedia. Recently most people contact their families by telephone, butdue to the high cost, the boring communication contents, the lack oftwo-way interaction, it is inefficient for the family interaction. And withthe age increasing, parents have a declining physical function, moreeager to health, and desire the care from their children and their peers.According to reports, the average ratio of "empty nesters" in the majorcities is more than50%. So in this year a new law has just introducedthat family members should be concerned about the spiritual needs ofthe elderly, and frequently visit or greeting the elderly. Howevergamification in recent years aimed at providing emotion rewards forwork, live, study, etc. will benefit our life and solve those real problems.Therefore, this article introduces the gamification design to improvefamily interaction, enhance the enthusiasm of participating in familyinteraction, and make interactive communication between familymembers more natural and fun.The goal of the paper is to design a system for commuter familywith the help of gamification. Through the analysis of game-relatedtheories and family interaction literature, it became clear deeply thatwhat the mechanism and methodology of gamification design are, andhow do the families interact. Then competitive analysis was conduct in some related products, and Wechat and smart match are discussed fromuser, interaction and API perspective. Moreover behaviors and needs offamily interaction were extracted in user research. Based on those needs,the overall functional structure and the game mechanics wereestablished. Finally the entire prototype and visual effects of applicationwere carried out.The research object of this paper is family interaction, and nineinteraction demands of families who not live together were discussed.And the paper also explored new ways for family interaction through thegamification in the information technology era. In addition, the organiccombination between Wechat and smart watch also have a certainreference value for the development of wearable devices.
