Since the founding of the city as a special type of resource type city and functionalunit present in the country, which has a history of Planned economy, short, fastconstruction, planned urban space development problems and so on. Development ofresource-type cities in China after more than60years of resources, resource depletionissues as an important issue of urban space development, has become an importantresearch of the study of resource-based cities. China’s resource-type cities generallyhave a single industrial structure, ecological environment destruction, locations ofdifficult access and other features. Tongchuan as a coal resource-exhausted cities, hasthe General characteristics of the resource-type cities, tongchuan has better advantageand superiority of ecological substrate conditions, tongchuan in space development inthe course of its particularity.This paper discusses the typical resource-exhausted cities (in tongchuan City) urbandevelopment, space systems development process, the development of policy analysisand research, aims to explore in the transformation of resources-exhausted cities in theurban space optimization and refactoring features. Characteristics of urban spatialstructure evolution of the development process through the study of tongchuan,affecting factors and its mechanism analysis of factors restricting transformationInstitute awarded its space and its development trend on which it made space reconstruction and development countermeasure of speciality, rich nationaldevelopment funding sources-exhausted cities in transition: a case study.Main findings and conclusions of the study:1. In summary the three phases in the development of the spatial structure ofresource-exhausted cities, overall analysis of resource-exhausted city spatialcharacteristics and correlation between industrial space and development of urbanfunctional units characteristics, restricting factors and mechanisms.2. Combination of spatial evolution of resources-exhausted cities in transition, theoverall spatial changing characteristics and constraints, the Institute found itscharacteristics and development trend of space reconstruction.3. Industry characteristics and its industry based on resource-exhausted city spatialdevelopment demands, proposed remodeling of its space development strategy.Results of this study on the aggregate of urban spatial development inresource-exhausted cities rich instance path for the sustainable development of theresource-exhausted cities; exploring ways of developing space transformation ofresource-based cities have important theoretical and practical guiding values.
