Steel and concrete composite beams are the most common forms of compositestructures. Composite beams with profiled sheeting are widely used in high-risestructures and steel buildings. Composite structure with economic benefit, large bearingcapacity and high stiffness, small cross section, and well resistance of cracking has beenwidely used. Analysis of shear connectors is a must step of researches on compositestructure. Seismic performance of composite structures is one of the hotspots of seismicresearches. Without a specified understanding of the seismic behavior of the shearconnectors, seismic behavior of composite structures cannot be clearly clarified. Headedstud is the main form of shear connection in composite beams with profiled sheeting, and behavior of this kind of studs is different from that of those without profiledsheeting.Push-out tests are conducted to obtain the shear strength and stiffness of shearstudsin composite beams with profiled sheeting. Ten specimens consists of three formsof profiled sheeting and were loaded monotonically and cyclically. Three differentfailure modes are observed and the deformed studs are in three different shapes. Bycomparing the different specimens, the boundary conditions are found to significantlyaffect the test results. And the bearing capacity of the cyclic loaded specimen is not lessthan the capacity of monotonic specimen. Ductility of cyclic specimens decreaseapparently. The monotonic results are compared with the standard criteria and the testresults of M1and M2are found to be lower. According to the analysis and calculation,it is demonstrated that for concrete rib shear rotation failure mode, analysis of thefailure mechanism will lead to a close prediction of shear resistance.Numerical modelsare established by finite element analysis using Abaqus. Comparing with the test results, the reliability of the finite element models is verified. And based on the finite elementmodel, parameter study is conducted. Influence of the concrete strength, stud diameterand size of steel sheeting on the bearing capacity of the stud was analyzed. According tothe results of the cyclic tests, the restoring force model of through-deck welded studswas established. Hysteresis curves calculated by the model were compared with the testresults, which resulted in good agreement. In this paper, the research described an analysis method of study in performance ofthrough-deck welded studs and established the restoring force model. Achievements ofthis study can also be used in further researches of seismic performance of compositebeams and composite frames.
