As a mode of modern cargo transportation, container transportation has many significantadvantages, making the container transportation be gained rapid development. However, EmptyContainers mismanagement may cause a lot of empty container wasted, which can affect thetimely delivery of appropriate, but also cause operating costs increasing of the containertransportation enterprises, which can seriously affect its economic benefits. Therefore, how toreduce the quantity of the empty containers allocation, and how to transport the empty containersto meet the quantity requirements in time have became the urgent problems.In this paper, making the empty containers allocation operating system in the distributednetwork of collecting and distributing container as the research object, first reviewed thedomestic and international issues on empty container repositioning existing research results. Bysorting the results of existing research, and summarizing their experience and inadequate, thepaper put forward its own ideas and methods. Secondly this paper, the constitution of adistributed network of collecting and distributiong, the causes of empty container repositioning,characteristics and processes of empty container repositioning were systematically analyzed andsummarized, and this paper illustrates the core issues of the empty container allocation and theexisting problems which need to be addressed. It has laid the theoretical basis for optimizationmodel of distributed collection and distribution empty container allocation through qualitativeanalysis of empty container allocation. The article is to analyze the system composition ofdistributed collection and distribution empty container allocation, the element of empty containerallocation and the factor and cost that can be able to affect the allocation of distributed collectionand distribution empty container on the basis of theory and literature. It builds a two-stageoptimization model by building a conceptual model of allocation and combine specificcharacteristics of empty container allocation, handle certain requirements of empty container andrandom requirements of empty container and integrate them and build holistic optimizationmodel for empty container decision-making. Finally, the article validates the model by anexample, design suitable solving method of lingo aiming at structure of the model in the article.It gets an objective result and proves the reasonability of the model and the reasonability of someobjective judgments on the contrary through controlling the operating condition of model andadjusting different parameters in the model, which contributes to referring and studying for thecontainer transportation company.
