Mainly with the research on the key technologies of digital substation, the internationally advanced IEC61850 Process bus and optical fiber transmission technology have been used in the renovation of main transformer station in ethylene plant. Computer integrated protection device has been used to renovate the traditional discrete electromagnetic relay, which integrates the functions of relay protection, measurement, control, monitoring and fault analysis etc. It will greatly help to simplify the wiring, to reduce the usage amount of copper cable, and to decrease the workload and time of renovation. Besides, the level of the overall informatization and the standard of the operation and mangement of the substation can be immensely improved at the same time.In addition to the advanced comprehensive protection device, the technology of transformer and switch intelligent monitoring has also been used to carry out the research on the intelligent technology of substation. In this research, the advanced fault recording technology has been used, which improves the fault analysis ability and greatly avoids the occurrence of unexplained accidents. Therefore the substation can possess the foundation of intelligent substation, which makes it have a sound foundation of its safety, reliable operation and the improvement of the level of operation and maintenance.
