With the development of charging technology, ETC (Electronic Toll Collection) and MTC (Manual Ton Collection system) hybrid Toll station gradually become the main form of our country highway tolls. As the main bottleneck of the highway toll station, improving the traffic capacity and the services quality is an effective method to improve highway traffic conditions.Based on the actual survey and study of the toll station layout and design, this paper analyze the behavior of vehicles and distribution models of service time, delay time and leave time of vehicles in the toll station in detail. At the same time, models are established for calculating the capacity of MTC toll station and ETC toll station respectively according to the theoretical analysis. It integrated a lot of factors, such as traffic characteristic, traffic behavior, toll station scale, service features and so on. So, it can be used as the basis for designing and evaluating MTC or ETC toll station.For hybrid toll station, because of the differences of the traffic characteristics, it will cause mutual interference between the MTC and ETC train flow. Thus, this article focuses on analyzing the driver behavior, following behavior, lane change behavior and decision-making behavior of hybrid toll station and so on, and then putting forward the system capacity calculation model of hybrid toll station.The model considers the influence of the different channel number and location of the ETC channels on the capacity, and it relatively conforms to the actual situation.In view of the traffic capacity calculation model that put forward in this paper and based on the measured data, this article sets up the simulation model and use simulation means to analyze the influence of different number of ETC lane and speed limits and the layout on the toll station capacity respectively, and compare with the calculation result that use the model, so that it can verify the feasibility and applicability of this model. Finally based on the above research results, this paper puts forward an optimization design method of hybrid toll station and a classification theory of service level as the design reference for the promotion and application of ETC system.
