High-grade Highway Toll Station Capacity Study

The traffic capacity of highway toll-station is influencing the traffic capacity of highway section directly, thus restricting the traffic operation conditions of the highway on the whole. So improving the traffic capacity of highway toll-station and level of service, is an effective method of improving the traffic capacity of the highway and service level.Firstly, the concepts of toll-station and its traffic capacity are introduced. In addition, the background and current situation of the traffic capacity of highway toll-station in the world are continually discussed. On the basis of that, the traffic flow characters of highway toll-station were reasonably analyzed in Yunnan, and then, the methods and steps were fixed.Secondly, due to idiographic instance of toll-station in Yunnan local, data colleting Project for researching on capacity of highway toll-station was established, and then, mass field toll-station traffic data were surveyed, the data contain the representative types of toll- station in Yunnan local. After field data were analyzed, up-flow headway distributing, sever time and away-time distributing of different type vehicle in toll-station were calculated.Thirdly, due to the influences and changes of traffic flow imposed by those holidays such as "May 1st and October 1st", special statistics and analysis are made. By these statistics and analysis, traffic characters of toll-station of Yunnan in rush hours are calculated to provide reference for calculating traffic capacity and evaluating its level of service.Lastly, using M/G/K queuing model, the base capacity of different type toll-lane were calculated, and the number of average queuing vehicle were used to evaluate the service level of toll-station. And then, the level of service of toll-station were divided into 4 class, the capacity of every level of service class were calculated. And by analysis and discuss of server way of toll-station, several methods to improve traffic capacity of highway toll-station are put forward.
