With the continuous development and construction of china’s rapid passenger transport system, the role played by the high-speed railway in china’s national economic development has become increasingly prominent. In the "long-term railway network plan" and its adjustment plan for china’s railway promulgated by state department and the railway company, the goal that establishing a rapid passenger transport network among all of our capital cities and major cities had been cleared, which referred to" the four longitudinal four horizontal lines ". Now, the rapid passenger transport network in our country is initially formed, gradually showing a network feature.For the extremely cost of EMU, the research of EMU scheduling becomes urgency after the construction of china’s rapid passenger transport network. China was still in a period of rapid passenger network construction, so in the existing research results, most of the scholars paid their attention to the optimization of EMU running program and the preparation of EMU using plan, in addition most of the studies were based on one or several high-speed rail lines, research aiming at EMU application mode under network conditions is relatively few. Therefore, research of this paper has a certain practical significance and theoretical value. The main contents of this paper include the following parts:(1) On the basis of the related literature, summarizing and analyzing the using situation and research on EMU operation mode in the domestic and foreign situation.(2) Combine the developments of railway network, improve definition of rapid passenger transport network, introduce new features of EMU using under the network condition, elaborate the theory of the three part of EMU operation mode, including: operation pattern, standby pattern and attachment pattern, at last, explain issues related to EMU maintenance.(3) Studies on a variety of ways of EMU operation pattern, respectively anglicizing the operation process, operation features and operation effects of the regular operation pattern, irregular operation pattern, circulation operation pattern and radial operation pattern, compare each operation pattern through a certain evaluation indexes system, obtained the conclusion that radial operation is most appropriate to the EMU under the condition of the rapid passenger transport network.(4) Studies on the EMU standby pattern, respectively analyses the process, features, effect of fixed standby pattern and dynamic standby pattern, compared them with a certain evaluation indexes system, obtained the conclusion that the dynamic standby pattern is most appropriate to the EMU under the condition of the rapid passenger transport network.(5) Studies on the EMU attachment pattern, respectively analyses the existing attachment pattern and several other attachment pattern, obtained the conclusion that the existing attachment pattern is most appropriate to the EMU under the condition of the rapid passenger transport network.On the basis of earlier studies summarized, this article proposed a synthesized operation mode which constituted with radial operation pattern, dynamic standby pattern, unified management and unified deployment.this operation mode is beneficial to the coordination of EMU operation, maintenance and standby, can be able to reduce the total number of EMU, improve the utilization and appropriate to the rapid passenger transport network.
