With the rapid development of economic, electricity consumption is increasing, it has brought some new problems to the operation of power grid. More and more power supply departments or units need to measure electricity consumption for real-time monitoring and control effectively, especially for the Southeast Asia countries of Singapore. The municipal sector need for more economic, safe and reliable electric meter monitoring system to real-time monitor Singapore regional power situation.In recent years, states have also adopted many measures to monitor and control electricity, the smart meter has replaced the traditional large-scale watt-hour meter, wireless automatic meter reading technology is gradually replacing the cable meter reading mode. Singapore government has been promoting the development of smart grid. Municipal units of electricity needs for Singapore government to promote the development of high efficiency, energy saving. This paper mainly studies the electric meter monitoring system based on wireless sensor, realization of data acquisition and wireless monitoring.The overall design of the system was designed, an electric meter monitoring system based on ZigBee wireless sensor network was proposed in the paper. The system was divided into four parts:data acquisition module, smart meter design module, wireless transmission module and PC user interface. The ZigBee protocol standard and system structure were analyzed at first, and the Mesh topology of wireless sensor (Mesh topology) was selected. The highly integrated IC 78M6613 chips of MAXIM company and the ZigBee wireless sensor communication module of American DIGI company were chosen as the hardware platform. The RS485 serial communication interface was used to collect the electric meter data acquisition, and then the collected data was delivered to the remote management of the computer terminal system through the ZigBee network transmission. The data was stored and can realize the remote monitoring and control functions. Meanwhile, the electricity supply data was analyed timely and then transmited to the users. The test platform was set up, two groups of energy-saving lamps were chosen to do the test, which verified the effiectiveness of the system. Finally it can satisfy the requirements of this system, and also have a certain novelty and practicality.
