Based on the development of large marine simulators and the R & D of vessel crew intelligent examination system, this article focused on simulation modeling and virtual reality researching of Alpha lubricator system of two-stroke marine diesel engines, the related research tasks are listed as follows:(1) A mathematical model of Alpha lubricator system were established by using modular design concept according to the real ship data of COSCO PACIFIC, including the control unit model, piping model, self-treatment mode of system failures and HMI mode. The node voltage method is adopted for real-time simulation of all nodes’ pressure in the pipe. The visual simulation software’s program for Alpha lubricator system is accomplished by using Visual C++6.0.(2) Concerning the lack of sense of reality and poor operability of the two-dimensional interface, based on virtual reality technology, a virtual reality system of Alpha lubricator system is developed by using 3ds Max and OGRE(Object-Oriented Graphics Rendering Engine), which can realize the function of rendering scene in real-time, scene navigation and human-computer interaction, in turn, it can comprehensively examine and assess the crew’s knowledge and ability level.(3) Based on the PROSIMS4.20 simulation system, the virtual reality system and DMS series marine simulator can communicate in real-time by using memory sharing method on the vessel crew intelligent examination system platform, so as to realize the synchronization of the whole system. A question of adjusting the basic cylinder oil feed rate is designed which can be answered by examinees on the platform. The examinees can check test scores and examination process on the platform as well.
