On the other hand, this makes industrial buildings which have great historical value gone forever. The old factory has itself significant advantages. In the transformation of the design the old factories have enough space. We can do a lot to reform them. Thus, on the one hand we saving resources and reduce municipal solid waste. On the other hand, we can continue the old factory life, promote economic development of the surrounding area, reducing the waste of resources and environmental pollution. It also has great economic and social significance.In this backdrop, all countries have start the Industrial Heritage research study. European countries started earlier in this field and have a relatively complete system, their experience is worth learning. Now our country pay more and more attention to industrial heritage protection, but still lacking in theoretical research. On the one hand, China is lack of protection method of industrial heritage. For some old factory buildings have been announced as national key cultural relics protection units’ industrial heritages. Countries generally protect them as cultural relics protection, completely immobile or tourism development. In addition a number of industrial heritage are usually reused by a number of artists over the name of an innovative. So I hope this paper studies the universal regeneration strategy on the basis of protecting. On the other hand, our theoretical research is still relatively lacking in depth and integrity. Some mobile industrial heritage, archives and records non-material forms of industrial heritage are often ignored. That destroyed the entire industry landscape and reduced the value of the industrial heritage itself.In this paper, the research object is the old factory building, a very important category in industrial heritage. The first chapter raises the study questions, research methods and paper framework. In the second chapter, through researching and deeply Interpreting the concept of industrial heritage and regeneration theory with analyzing the reuse practices of industrial heritage renovation in the domestic and foreign, we summed up the basic principles and basic methods of industrial heritage regeneration. Chapter III presented the research object – Wan shan mercury machine processing plant. It relies on Wanshan mercury’s rise and fall, is excellent industrial heritage with high historical value. Under the guidance of the basic principles and concepts, the fourth chapter begin to analyze the relevant design factors of the transformation of the old factory buildings, from the reservation, renovation, alteration, modification to utilization patterns, etc. Then summarize the design approach of the old factory building renovation and reuse, develop a detailed strategy to transform and reuse the old factory, Finally, according to the design method and summary of the proposed transformation strategy Chapter V put forward design of Wanshan mercury. Transformation strategy research on old factory, on the one hand, can provide some technical support to Wanshan mercury heritage protection.
