The design of driven and protection circuit for power unit of Distribution Static Synchronous Compensator (D-STATCOM)is difficult, and it’s critical to the safe and stable operation for D-STATCOM. Based on the engineering application of chain D-STATCOM devices, the driven and protection circuit of H-bridge inverter unit is analyzed and designed in this paper. The main work is as follows:1. The principle and steps of the switching power supply with high wide voltage input and multiple output are introduced, the working principle of the flyback converter is mainly illustrated. Two work modes of the converter are analyzed. A switching power supply of the driven and protection circuit is designed finally.2. The structural characteristics and working principle of the power switch tube are expounded, several kinds of common IGBT drive circuit are studied, their working principle, advantages and disadvantages are analyzed respectively. At last, the design of the circuit is given in this paper.3. The circuit for communication, dc voltage sampling, temperature detection and etc.. are studied and designed.4. The simulation of local circuit and the debug of the whole physical circuit board are carried on, the results are also analyzed and summarized.
