Cable drill is used to impact rock and soil by the kinetic energy from the falling of percussive bit. Which is simpler, but the work of cable drill in the construction of large diameter pile foundations in fields of water conservancy, railway and geological exploring, especially in boulder and cobble strata cannot be replaced. Meanwhile cable drill is used in more fields with the application of advanced technology to cable drill. Although percussive drilling is widely used, there are still some disadvantages, such as the fluctuation load, noise, low working efficiency, energy consumption and so on, which is due to the design of cable drill is mainly relied on empirical methods or simplified formulas, the dynamic characteristics of coupling system has not been fully understood. Hence, the issues listed as follow have been studied.Firstly, analyzing the motion of the four bar linkage model of the impact mechanism and acquiring the motion parameters of drill bit, without considering of the effect of buffer mechanism and the wire rope on cable drill.Secondly, building the vibration differential equation of impact mechanism of cable drill and analyzing the main influence factors to the first-order modal frequency and the second-order modal frequency of the impact system.Thirdly, a rigid-flexible hybrid parametric model is established by software of Pre/Engineering(3D design software), ANSYS(finite element analysis software) and ADAMS(virtual technology software), and then studying the law of drill bit motion through the graphs from the result of simulating.Finally, a better design of GCD-1500 cable drill is gotten after a series of design optimization, after finishing the works, which are determining the design variables, building the objective function, doing the Adams design of experiments(DOE) and optimization design simulating depend on the parameterization model.By all the works above, this paper studies the effect of buffer mechanism and wire rope-drill system on the dynamic characteristics of cable drill and optimized the structure of four bar linkage. Through these works, providing reliable parameter basis and research methods for the optimization design and dynamics research of percussive drilling system.
