Gas meter is a branch of the gas industry. Exploring the smart gas meter reading system is a secondary catalyst on the development of the gas industry. The management would become more orderly, after market competition, gas prices will be more affordable for users.In the meter reading field, the traditional manner is manual meter reading.it is time-consuming and not easy to manage. Later a new way come out:pre-paid IC card mode. This approach compared to manual meter reading, there have been significant improvements. But as the number of users increasing, it also exposed the drawbacks:the price adjustment lags, monitoring lags. In response to this problem, we developed a wireless meter reading system based on ZigBee protocol stack. The complete system includes a user terminal, PC and concentrator three parts. The user terminal communicates with concentrator on ZigBee network. Using the serial port simulates the wireless communications between concentrator and PC. The main work and results are as follows:1. Learned the read needs of wireless meter reading, choose the ZigBee as the wireless network communication protocols.2. Complete designing of hardware circuit. Selected TI’s CC2530 RF chip as the core, and designed the relevant module.3. In full knowledge of ZigBee protocol stack based on the realization of smart gas meter data transmission between nodes and the centralized, using C# windows form program designed to achieve a data transfer concentrator with the host computer. Design and implement a data concentrator and smart communication program between the gas meter.4. Design and implement a management system based on wireless meter reading MySQL database PC software.5. Test the system. Results show that the system:hardware and software, can read the gas meter in the wireless networks.6. In the last, made a summary of the relevant work, and outlook the further work direction.
