Traffic simulation must depend on detailed survey data, the correct network setting method, and proper motion model parameter calibration, in order to capture the real and simulated transport phenomena. Up to now, most of the research was conducted in view of motion model of calibration, and the research has been basically based on an earlier version of the setting of the simulation system, which payed more attention to the relevant theoretical research. but studied less when it comes to how to obtain the verifiability traffic data by traffic survey system perfectly, and how to conduct the correct basic simulation calibration operation, and there isn’t system summary on simulation settings of specific problems on china’s mixed traffic system. A method that can be directly applied to the practical traffic simulation system parameter calibration is needed to front-line staff. This paper conducts a study on the traffic survey method, basic simulation Optimal setting method, calibration method of motion model by higher software versions, hoping that is useful to the first-line traffic simulation staff.Design and implementation of traffic investigation. Through the investigation and a lot of practice, the paper comes to a systematic conclusion for the traffic data survey method of traffic simulation system. In the layout method of investigation preparation and instrument, this paper puts forward a method of combining the video camera method with artificial investigation together, and introduces the personnel, equipment, and the arrangement and layout of the investigation in different road conditions. According to the data of flow, speed, signal simulation given in the simulation, the paper presents the practical data collection method, so that the traffic survey can be successfully collected the data required for traffic simulation system. It has verifiability by this method for collected data, avoids the problem of sence collect errors can not to correct.The setting method of basic simulation. This paper researches the setting method of calibration with four aspects including the road channelization and traffic signs, traffic flow, traffic control, delay the detection. In the aspects of road channelization and traffic sign, the mixed traffic road segmentation method in the simulation; the principle and method for connecting the connector; the left turn waiting time zone in the simulation settings is studied in the paper. In terms of the traffic flow, this paper carries on a study about the path decision of multiple function lane and the setting of velocity distribution in the simulation. In the way of traffic management, a research of signal timing and intersection conflict is conducted. In the aspect of delay detection, this paper discusses the delay detection section and the network filling time at the beginning of the simulation. In view of some special problems on now china’s mixed traffic, such as the problem of high-speed and low-speed mixing of electric bicycles and bicycles, the problem of twice crossing for bicycle left, the problem of light up late and light off early for pedestrian signal, gives setting methods one by one and some problems that should be paid attention to.The calibration method of motion model. It aims at mainly for the model parameters of motor driving behavior to calibration, the paper conducts a qualitative analysis of the non-motorized vehicle. In the referenced mathematical method, the motion model parameter calibration is the same at more research, but research objects are different. Most scholars analyzed the car following model parameters and some of the lane change model, this paper studys all the lane change model parameters(Maximum deceleration,-1 m/s2 per distance, Accepted deceleration, Waiting time before diffusion, Safety distance reduction factor, Maximum deceleration for cooperative braking), Lateral behavior parameters, the signal control parameters(Reduction factor, Start upstream of stop line, End downstream of stop line), a more comprehensive research situation. Through the value analysis and orthogonal test, and ultimately determine the scope of parameters, achieve the goal of the calibration.This paper conducts a study on the traffic survey method, basic simulation setting method, calibration method of motion model by higher software versions to get a set of practical Optimal setting method for VISSIM simulation, combining the current characteristic of china’s mixed traffic in the method. and uses an example to justify the calibration method. Compared with the previous related research, this method are summarized data validation methods of traffic investigation, the correct method of road network setting, the methods focus on systematic utility and summarizes more about the specific operation problems that becomes simplified than before, so it can be used by the first traffic simulation staff as the operator manual. The study has a positive significance for the the popularization of traffic simulation work and the further improvement of traffic simulation precision.
