Lanzhou is the "two mountains, a typical" Valley City, waterfront space in city is one of the most valuable resources in the city, with rich species diversity and its unique amphibious staggered, not only provides outdoor venues open pleasant scenery, close to nature as the city residents, but also to the city’s ecological integration, economic development, shaping the image and enhance the quality of living environment plays an important role. However, the special geographical environment of Lanzhou, the development of city waterfront space are limited to a certain extent, and the disorder spread to use in industrial and mining enterprises and the development of city, city waterfront space has led to a series of ecological environment problems, which restricts the sustainable development of the whole city. "Fringe" should have a more active energy flow and material flow, with more species and higher productivity, will have "beyond the local part of the sum of the individual functions of the ecological relevance of value-added benefits", and barren or destroyed "fringe" is not only the benefits, but the radiation surrounding areas will become the source of ecological damage. Therefore in the ecological planning, the edge effect is a universal phenomenon in different interfaces, the sustainable development of the integration for the benefit of ecological system, the release of hidden benefits and to promote the development of ecological factors of ecological system plays an important role.In the city waterfront space planning, we always used to isolated way to seek solutions, ignoring its contact with the surrounding environment, so often care for this and lose that.
