As the critical component of machine vision, the industrial camera with long working hours, high stability of image and high anti-interference ability, will play an important role in industry 4.0 era.Based on the introduction of machine vision and industrial camera, the paper gives the technical indicators and then establish the block diagram of system. The whole system of industrial camera captures the image by CMOS sensor. The main controller based on FPGA implements the format conversion, while balance adjustment and ping-pong buffer with double DDR2 chip. As the transmission interface, USB3.0 transfers the data to PC where the host-computer software will finally display the image.This paper mainly implements the design of CMOS controller and DDR2 ping-pong buffer based on FPGA. The CMOS controller receives the command including write/read flag, the address of register and the parameter to write from host computer. Based on the protocol, the controller perform the checkout and parse of information. After getting the data, the module uses state machine to control I2C-Bus to transfer the address and parameters of register to CMOS sensor. The controller can also upload the data read from CMOS register to host computer.The controller of DDR2 ping-pong buffer receives the state signal of frame and pixel data from sensor. With IP core, DDR2 chip gets the data to write and control command from this module. The module exports the pixel data read from buffer and synchronous signal of frame generated by simulation. Writing controller, reading controller and DDR2 controller compose the whole ping-pong buffer design.After showing the synthesis report, the paper adopts the industrial camera board designed by the laboratory I belong to as hardware platform and does the performance test of the module implemented by the paper. As the result shows, the CMOS controller andDDR2 ping-pong buffer meet the requests of system. The picture of industrial camera is stable and clear. And the frame rate is over 12 fps under five million pixel resolution.
