With the completion of the strategy" to build up a city on the basis of a harbor "that proposed in Zhuhai and a new round of Zhuhai Port master plan revision, the Zhuhai port has entered a new stage of professionalization, deep water and large-scale development and modernization. In2013, Zhuhai port throughput has exceeded100million tons. According to the "Zhuhai Port Master Plan", the cargo throughput will exceeded200million tons in2020.Anchorage is an important port facility, and its rational distribution and optimal design is an important part of port planning and construction. It directly affects the layout of port construction, economic benefits and ship anchoring safety. The anchorage of Zhuhai harbor has played an important role in the development of port in the past. However, with the rapid growth of the size and throughput of the Zhuhai port in recent years, the existing anchorage, especially Gaolan Port anchorage, which is planned and constructed under the conditions of the past experience, restricting the development of port, normal operations and water safety, because the anchorage scale is insufficient and the type is inadequate.Based on the geography and hydrometeorology etc natural environment at Gaolan region in Zhuhai, the current conditions of ports and the development of ports, the demands of anchorage has been comprehensive analyzed, and the conclusion can provide the general conditions of locating anchorage and study on safety navigation. Safety navigation has been analyzed through the selection address for anchorage and anchorage planning. The rationality and adaptability of anchorage planning at Gaolan port has been analyzed; including the interaction between natural environment and planning anchorage, the interaction between traffic environment and planning anchorage. The conclusion shows that, based on the current anchorage, it is necessary and feasibility to increase planning anchorage at Gaolan port in "planning anchorage at Zhuhai port".The conclusion in this paper can provides reference of planning anchorage for similar ports.
