Zhoushan Port Anchorage Planning

In April 1987, granted by China State Council, Zhoushan port opened to foreign country. Port handling capacity of Zhoushan broke 10 million tons firstly in 1996 and rowed into the large port of China. It broke 20 million tons, 30 million tons, 40 million tons, and 50 million tons respectively in 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2003. Sinochem Xingzhong Oil Company, Zhongwei Company, Aoshan terminal second extension, Xixiezhi Fuxin oil terminal, Majishan ore No.1 transfering terminal and Laotangshan second and third extensions are completed one after another. These projects made the latent advantage of Zhoushan port convert into the realistic advantage gradually and refreshed the history record of port handling capacity. A capacity of 100 million tons a year is a symbol of super port in the world .In 2004 Zhoushan port handled 73,592,600 tons which exceeded the planed quantity in advance. Zhoushan port is expected to handle more than one hundred million tons in 2006 and become a super port in the world. A project for container carrier which will invest 5.5 billion RMB in first term is under construction at Dapukou in Jintang Island. Two berths will be available when the Jingtang Bridge is open to traffic in 2008. And in 2010, all six container berths and one multi-purpose berth will be built and form a handling capacity of 2.7 million TEU each year. The top grade berth in the world here can accept the ship of 10 thousand TEU or more . The projections of Zhoushan port have a rapid development during last 10 years. However, the contradiction between the supply and demand of anchorage becomes more and more serious. Many ships could not load or discharge or do other relative works due to no anchorage which interfered ship's sailing time and caused high demurrage. It also caused collisions between anchoring ships, anchoring ship and underway ship which made a huge loss to the relevant party. And also it will seriously influence the safe operation and further development of Zhoushan port. So a re-projection of anchorage is very important and urgent.The work of this dissertation research mainly has following few aspects: first, according to the investigation about present using status of Zhoushan anchorage and the general development projection of Zhoushan port ,we found the contradiction between the supply and demand of Zhoushan anchorage and the urgency of re-projection ; second .study on the wharfs ,port handling capacity .ship's requirement of anchorage and recent and future demand of Zhoushan anchorage ;third, analysis and evaluate the comprehensive natural factors of Zhoushan port area; forth, make the new Zhoushan anchorage project.
