The indexing cam mechanism, which is conventional equipment in auto mechanical, is widely used in sorts of food, medicine, printing and other industries. In order to adapt to the automatic machine’s request of high speed and large index number, a new type of double meshing pin gear cam indexing mechanism is designed. The new mechanism which can realize larger degree and has compact structure has wide application prospect.First of all, transmission principle of the new type of double meshing pin gear cam indexing mechanism are expounded in this paper, the main design parameters are defined, and the structure of the mechanism is designed preliminarily. The equations of the profile cam and inner cycloid gear are established. Contour lines of cam and inner cycloid gear cam contour line are drawn using Matlab. This article also discusses the effects of main parameters on the cam contour line. And on the basis of the above research, Three-dimensional models of the main parts are completed using pro/e through coordinate points which are already calculated. At the same time, the feasibility of new mechanism motion and the reasonableness of the structure design are verified using Pro/e Mechanism module.Second, the stress between pin gear and cam, inner cycloid gear are analyzed. Deformation compatibility condition is established and the arms of force of pin gear in meshing points were analyzed. Considering the cam and needle tooth meshing state, the method can calculate the contact force and its change range between the pin gear and the cycloid during the whole transmission more precisely. Effects of main parameters on the pressure Angle and stress have been analyzed. Contact stress between pin gear and cam, inner cycloid gear is calculated. The conclusions above provide a theoretical basis for this mechanism design and the selection of related parameters.Finally, prototype is designed with specific parameters and all the details. All parts in the mechanism are designed on the basis of the conclusions which have got from previous work. Inertia force balance is analyzed. The virtual prototype is assembled in Pro/e to check the interference and find design flaw. Institution is simulated in Adams, to obtain output speed curve. Speed curve is consistent with the theoretical design curve. Inertia force balance is analyzed. Finally, the prototype has been manufactured, and run.
