Destructive, suddenness, complexity, diversity and selectivity are the five major characteristics of the thunder and lightning disasters. Because the level of overvoltage protection of the electronic information system devices relatively low, high voltage produced by directly lightning struck and heating&electromagnetic effects caused by thunder and lightning induction factors are easily disturb the normal running of electronic information system devices or even cause permanent damage.So in a sense, with the continuous development of science and technology, the higher degree of integrated electronic information system is, the greater threat of lightning disasters for people. So further study about the route that electronic information system lightning invasion in is inspired. Due to the randomness of time and place that lightning disaster occur and the undetectable of lightning disaster intensity, damage prevention of lightning strike becomes more and more difficult. After the concept of "integrated lightning protection system" had been put forward in20th century, the global effect of lightning protection have been further improved, but it is unrealistic that really prevent even avoid the happening of lightning damage. International electro-technical commission standard IEC62305as well as building lightning protection design specifications GB50057of our country has already pointed out that the electronic information system in buildings need to install lightning protection devices in according with specifications, by which it can reduce the lightning disaster to a minimum extent and lower the risks of protected electronic information system suffering from lightning disasters.But due to the large number of occurrence of lightning disasters and the growing losses and casualties caused by lightning disaster year by year, the industries spend lots of money in purchasing lightning protection device in order to reach a best protection effect, but the results may be negligible.When people realize scientific, accurate and economical lightning protection is the root of the lightning protection, a new concept of lightning protection which called "lightning disaster risk assessment" has begun to sprout.This article first introduced the development history of lightning disaster risk at home and abroad, and compared kinds of evaluation methods. Secondly, Determine the lightning risk assessment method of electronic information system on basis of the existing methods, which contains the lightning location data analysis, evaluation of lightning electromagnetic environment and the lightning risk value calculation of electronic information system line. Thirdly, take data exchange center of a bank in shanghai as an example, assessing the lightning disaster of its internal electronic information system, and giving target suggestions of lightning protection according to the assessing results.
