Large commercial buildings are the important public architecture in the city, whichnot only undertake the urban social functions, such as communication, entertainment etc,but also the physical function, commercial activity and recreational service for theconsumers. The internal space design is the key and difficult point because of itslarge-scale and complicated function of its own. Nevertheless effective evaluation onthe interior space is significant for improving the design quality of this kind ofbuildings. In this paper, based on the classification of the pattern of spatial organization of thelarge commercial building internal space in our country, employed the survey methodcombining space syntax analysis with consumer questionnaire, analyzed the deepstructural relationship of building internal space and the characteristics of internal spacein terms of accessibility, identifiability, etc in cases of large commercial building withlinear, mesh format, radiant type and surrounding type, etc four types of typical layout.Space syntax theory manifests that high integration of the inner open space in the largecommercial buildings affect the accessibility and identifiability of its space significantly.According to the questionnaire, the radial and integrated commercial buildings possessthe higher efficient usage of internal space and better subjective evaluation andsatisfaction in the aspect of accessibility and intelligibility. Moreover, after comparingthe syntactic analysis and questionnaire, the researches summarizes the advantages anddisadvantages of the different spatial layout in the large commercial buildings and putforward principles for optimization design of large-scale commercial buildings base onthe recognition and the accessibility at the same time.
