Research On Dalian Shipyard Urban Area Renewal Based On Weaving Theory

With the arrival of post-industrial era, every city is facing opportunity and challenge for urban renewal caused by industrial restructuring. Port district of city takes up a large area; neighboring conditions are complicated. Therefore, this kind of large scale renewal may cause fracture of urban context easily, and this kind of urban loss is permanent. Thus, how to use weaving theory to combine new and old perfectly to form an organic whole city is quite important to the urban development.This thesis Research on Dalian Shipyard Urban Renewal Based on Weaving Theory belongs to the research category of old industrial port district renewal planning method.The research places emphasis on the angle of planning design; it analyzes domestic and international successful cases and summarizes theories; it discusses renewal method for port district which suits urban development in our country.The main research content is comprised of five parts. The first part is introduction. Make clear the research object of subject, research meaning and research methods; the second part is theoretical research. It elaborates the concept of weaving theory and theory and practice of domestic and international port renewal, and it summarizes factors of port district renewal success through analyzing and studying domestic and international cases; the third part is uncovering the history threads between Dalian city and port through summarizing their development process, providing proof for the following detailed planning design; the forth part is evidence and research. Conduct comprehensive analysis of Dalian Shipyard block; analyze the advantage and disadvantage of its development; thus, direct the following plan and design specifically; the fifth part is detailed plan and design. Put forward plan and design based on weaving theory; control and direct plan on two ways, detailed controllable planning and urban design; the sixth part is reflection and suggestions. Conclude the shortcoming of this subject research and elaborate some thoughts of author through subject research and some advice on our port renewal.Through analysis and conclusion of related domestic and international theory research result and practice, this thesis points out the main problem of our port district renewal theory during research and practice; based on concept of weaving theory, combining Dalian local characteristics, with the method of empirical research, it further discusses the application of weaving theory to urban port district renewal and reformation by putting forward weaving strategy for Dalian Shipyard renewal.
