In the design period, checking calculations for ship decking machinery are much too complicated and pivotal work, because each machine involves quite a lot of gadgets and modules, leading to quantities of calculation and choices. If one designer does the checking manually, he would run into plenty of repetitive work, and that’s boring, long-lasting, inefficient and easy to get wrong or inaccurate results. What"s more, in the early period of design, there easily appears a bad scheme that is inconvenient, unaesthetic and unpractical. And the plan might have several gadgets that don’t fulfil the demands the regulations required or far ahead it. There also might be interferes among the many gadgets. These lead to hardness and risks for the design.Hydraulic Steering gear series, hydraulic combined windlass series, and hydraulic winch series are common used deck machinery on ship, and they play vital and irreplaceable roles in sailing safety. To solve the problems above, this thesis did some research on hydraulic steering gears, hydraulic combined windlasses and hydraulic winches.It consists of following contents in this thesis.It analyzed checking theory of the three equipment, hydraulic steering gear, hydraulic combined windlass and hydraulic winch, and concluded checking process of the three equipment. And it also put forward definition and significance of diagnosing research. It analyzed theory of diagnosis. Purpose of diagnosing is to build base for automatic scheme optimization for equipment.Pointing to checking and diagnosing work for the three equipment, a software is programmed to finish checking work. The software is made with Visual C++and data managed with Microsoft Access. It deals with calculation of the many modules required with the data from user interface. GUI of the software is made in MFC. It can manage machines and gadgets friendly, and can manipulate and display the total process. It generates checking report automatically, which is regular and in great order, with detailed theory and process.On the base of auto-checking results for equipment, the software implements auto-diagnosing function. It analyze demands of designer, and process the results of calculation and relations between modules, then diagnose parts of machine pointing to safety, matching, and reasonability. Relevant causes of the problems and suggestions are given at last and form diagnosis report. The suggestions are given by experts or group discussion, which can be supplemented and improved afterwards. Designers improve the machine scheme gradually, recheck it then will get a better design. The software reserves interfaces to get ANSYS results, and to analyze reliability of specified machines. It can also be configured to share data in LAN for small-scale use.Examples are given to prove the efficiency and accuracy of the software system. Designers improve the scheme according to diagnosis and suggestions. The system can meet the demands of windlass manufactures, and has been adopted by some of them.Contents for the research are expandable. More research can be done to improve the auto-check and diagnosing system to fit more kinds of ship deck equipment, and can make the design process more efficient, reliable, and professional.
