Spiral bevel gear is mainly used as a basic mechanical transmission component betweencrossing shafts, widely used in all kinds of heavy machinery and all kinds of precision CNCmachine tools. Hypoid gear is widely used because of the existence of offset, its design andprocessing parameter adjustment directly affect the transmission performance, reasonableprocessing parameters assure the perfect meshing performance of gears. The influence law ofhypoid gear processing parameter adjustment on tooth contact analysis results is studied, sometheoretical guidance for hypoid gear design and processing parameter adjustment is given.Spiral bevel gear meshing theory, conjugate tooth surface curvature relation and localconjugate are told in the paper. Based on analysis of gear processing, the processingcoordinate system is built, according to the meshing theory of hypoid gear and the principle ofcoordinate transformation, the hypoid gear tooth surface equation and gear blank3D model isestablished, and the MATLAB program for calculating gears blank parameters and toothsurface equation is finished, and the gear blank3D geometric model is constructed.Based on the theory of Gleason spiral bevel gear tooth contact analysis, the computerprogram for tooth contact analysis is worked out. A pair of hypoid gears is applies to toothcontact analysis, and its processing parameter adjustment is finished.The processing parameters of hypoid gear consist of pitch cone pitch, processing offset,radial position of the cutter, and so on. The impact of varying single processing parameteradjustment on tooth contact analysis is studied, and its rule is given. Based on the processingadjustment parameter for man-made single parameter error, the influence of the error on toothcontact analysis is researched, the sensitive parameters which affect the results of analysis isset down, some theoretical guides for hypoid gear design and processing parameter adjustmentare provided.
