Airport baggage handling system (BHS) simulation becomes more and more valued with the rapid development of civil aviation. Operation optimization of green baggage handling system includes two aspects. On the one hand, it needs to be considered that reducing the harmful effects on the environment of the work process. On the other hand, it needs to be considered that the daily operational efficiencies. This research aims to the green operation of the baggage handling system, contrasts and analyzes the different operation strategies, assesses the environmental emissions indicators of the baggage handling system. The specific studies are as follows:Firstly, the baggage handling system is analyzed qualitatively in three aspects of build, operate, waste recycling using life cycle analysis framework. The research analyzes and summarizes the idea of green system building. The carbon emission per bag is chosen as a quantitative evaluation of the BHS based on the research of evaluation of green system and products.Secondly, this paper defines the objectives and scope of baggage handling system operation in detail. It analyzes all the feasible strategies for all part of the system operation and lists the concerns statistical indicators.Thirdly, based on the case, this paper focus on two objects, one is the traditional object of efficiency increasing, the other one is the green object of energy conservation and emission reduction. Six simulation models are built for the research by different check-in counters distribution methods and different chute distribution methods in combinations. This paper calculates it’s efficiency indicators, such as passenger waiting time and check-in queue length and environmental emissions indicator of carbon emissions per baggage in both equipment control modes, one is continuous work mode, the other one is energy-saving control mode. The research proposes some recommendations for baggage handling system optimization from the objective of green system based on the case.
