Worm drive began to develop rapidly in1920s. The worm drivie has many advantages,such as compact structure, big transmission ratio, strong bearing capacity, smoothtransmission.Worm drivie has been widely applied to agricultural machinery, military industryand other modern industries.The Archimedes cylindrical worm is the most widely applicationscope, becauseit is easy to processand assemble, and axial displacement changing does notaffect the conjugate tooth surface. But Archimedes cylindrical worm hydrodynamiclubrication is bad, and transmission efficiency is low. The emergence of cone worm drivechanges the adverse situation. Cone worm drive has many advantages such as big transmissionratio, and the angle of instantaneous contact line of the normal and mesh point of resultantvelocity is small.Cone worm drivie can be used to be clutch.With the development of the cone worm, new cone worm drive appeares. This articleintroduces a new type of cone worm gear drive, named double guide worm gear and wormdrive, which is established on the cone worm. It has two side surfaces including inside surfaceand outside surface. The quasi double lead spiral worm gearing is different from double leadspiral worm gearing. Because the quasi double lead spiral worm gearing tooth surface isArchimedes spiral surface, so it is easily for processing and assembling.Worm gear materialscan use steel instead of copper, and transmission efficiency is good, carrying capacity is strong,large transmission ratio. This article mainly includes the following aspects:(1)Forming principle of new type cone worm drive and tooth surface meshing weredescribedin details.A model about the quasi double lead spiral worm gearingwas built withCATIA. The differences of the quasi double lead spiral worm gearing and double lead spiralworm gearingwas stated in details.(2) Process of quasi double lead spiral worm gearingwas designed. The error wascalculatedabout the instead double lead spiral worm gearing for quasi double lead spiralworm gearing. The fact proved that the instead is reasonable.(3) Stress distribution of the quasi double lead spiral worm gearing is very complicated.Firstly, the stress about the internal mesh point and the external mesh point wasanalyzedwithout considering the existence of friction. Secondly, the friction is analyzedseparately. Thestress analysis provided the basis for the followingStrength calculation. (4) Permissible torque of quasi double lead spiral worm gearingwas calculated. Thecone worm gear tooth surface contact strength and tooth root bending strengthwascalculated.Theresult of the calculation was checkedon the basis of quasi double lead spiralworm gearing.The Stiffness Calculation was madeabout cone worm.Parameter design ofquasi double lead spiral worm gearing was reasonable.
