The rapid development of computer technology has promoted the transformationof mechanical industry design method. Represented in parametric design, moderndesign methods have improved traditional design methods which are workload, highrepeatability and low efficiency of defect. Modern design methods have improvedwork efficiency, allowing designers freed from the complex heavy repetitive work, toengage in more creative work. Crane industry is the beneficiary of this transform,domestic and foreign manufacturers have long concerned about crane modern cranedesign methods, and have a lot of research on parametric design of crane and havemade considerable progress. The progress of these studies played a very positiveimpact on the crane industry and greatly promoted the development of the craneindustry.Firstly, this paper introduced domestic and abroad wheel crane developmentstatus and the key technology which was involved. Domestic crane industry startedlate but has been developing rapidly. There is a gap between domestic crane industryand the international advanced level, but our crane industry has a bright future. Thispaper described development of overall and boom telescoping mechanism module ofwheel crane design and calculation software, using VC++to develop softwaremodules, integrating Word document processing technology and UG secondarydevelopment technology.Secondly, this paper introduces the overall design of the software. Frameworkdesign of the software was made based on demand analysis. Furthermore, overalltechnological scheme was made. The overall design requirement of every module waslisted as guide and gist.Thirdly, the design and calculation method of boom telescoping mechanism wasmade in detail. According to some company’s specific situation, there are cylinders with ropes and cylinders with pins two forms of boom telescoping mechanisms.Analyze the stress of each form of boom telescoping mechanism. Calculate the forceof the rope and the cylinder. Do the rope selection calculation. Design and check thepins. Review and sort out a universal formula for the calculation of the above.Fourthly, this paper described the development of the software module. Thesoftware system design, module design, interface design were described in detail. Theimportant and difficult points of programming development were also described indetail. The principles and methods of implementation about Word documentprocessing capabilities were introduced. UG secondary development technologywhich included menu design, entry function, compile and connections wasintroduced.Finally, the test program based on function was introduced. The test cases andresults were listed in detail. The test results meet the expected results, drawconclusions, the software module meet the design requirements and use requirements.
