As a very important part of rural landscape, settlement landscape carries a lot of naturalelements and cultural quality and fully presents a historical evolution of the rural landscape.In the context of rural urbanization and rural construction, rural landscape cannot be plannedreasonably. Therefore, lots of problems such as production problem and ecological problemexpose gradually, which threatens the sustainable development of rural area. Vacant villagewhich appears just because villagers are not willing to pull down their old houses wastesmany land resources. People copy the urban landscape blindly, which results in the chaos oflandscape style and the loss of regional culture. Due to the poor infrastructure, people’s livingenvironment becomes “dirty, disorder and bad”. Because of overlooking the localgeographical environment, people plan the hilly area and basin just as the same as do the plain.Therefore, the remediation and planning of new rural settlement landscape becomes a hotissue of rural development at present. It can improve the villagers’ living environment andliving condition in a short time. It is also an essential way to construct a new rural settlementlandscape which not only own rural tinge but also can promote rural development efficiently,stably and sustainably.This essay takes the south of Shanxi province as an example. By observing localgeographical environment, the author come to a conclusion of the classification and characterof rural landscape and the elements embedded in the landscape. On the premise of consideringregional features, the author sums up the problems on settlement landscape in south of Shanxiprovince from the perspective of industrial system, infrastructure and public facility,residential building and landscape greening. Moreover, the author does a lot of researches andanalyses. The essay confirms a principle of remedying the settlement landscape by taking theactual life in rural area into consideration. It also reaches a scientific and practical plan bydoing a deeply research which combines adjusting industrial construction, remedyinginfrastructure and public facility, remedying residential building and greening landscape with economy. At last, under the principle of combining theory with practice, the essay takes theremediation and design of the Feng village located in Yuncheng Shanxi province as anexample and verify the theory being studied. This study is of great significance to thedevelopment of new rural construction in south of Shanxi province.
