Belt conveyor is the most important transport equipment of bulk materials. As belt conveyor was developing to long distance, high speed, large loading capacity and multi-drive, traditional statics design was not satisfy the requirements, need the dynamic characters to analyze belt conveyor, the nature of belt is viscoelastic, so use viscoelastic dynamic model to analyze belt.Use the Kelvin-Vogit model to study the dynamics of belt and establish the wave equation, the attenuation coefficient and velocity wave of belt are derived by using the harmonic wave solution to solve the wave equation. Propagation of velocity and tension in the belt is substantially by the way of wave. The attenuation coefficient and velocity wave of belt are derived by using the harmonic wave solution to solve the wave equation. Built the wave models of conveyor system and each location and established equilibrium equations of each location according to force balance, used the relationship of wave impedance, tension and velocity wave, obtained the velocity of belt unit. To increase a motor or to increase head pulley mass or decrease tail pulley mass can reduce the maximum tension of the belt. Established wave model of take-up pulley during the process of stopping and studied reflection and refraction according to the process of starting and obtained the situation of reflection and refraction at the take-up pulley. Studied the algorithmic of velocity at different time and different location with wave theory and wrote a program with Visual Basic.Use the program to simulated a practical application of belt conveyor of unsteady processes and analyzed velocity, tension and displacement at different location, in order to avoid or reduce the accident during the unsteady process.
