With the rapid development and wide application of the reconnaissance technology and precision-guided weapons, the requirements of camouflage effect are also increasing. The camouflage development of our country is not mature, jungle camouflage, for example, the Type87, Type97and the07army camouflage are all four-color camouflage:green, yellow, brown and black. Those camouflages effect is good in more than150meters in jungle conditions, but abate with the range reduced. The task of camouflage design is to minimize the contrast between camouflage patterns and surrounding background as far as possible on the characteristics, but there is not a better method to evaluate this contrast effect now.There are defects in traditional field experiment which use the size of the probability to evaluate the effect of camouflage. First the index accuracy does not meet the needs of comparative analysis of different camouflage patterns, and the effect of guidance camouflage design is not satisfactory. Besides, this evaluation method is very subjective, the evaluation results have great relationship with personal experience and overall quality of observers and the evaluation results are unconvincing.The brightness contrast, color features, texture features, shape features, and spot size are selected as the evaluation index in this article considered a variety of factors. The evaluation results are related with the value of these indexes, so it has a strong guidance for camouflage design.It is very important to determine the size of the weights scientifically and rationally during multi-index comprehensive evaluation. This article puts out a weight allocation method based on impersonal message entropy to ensure the objectivity of the weight allocation.Gray cluster assessment is introduced in this article in order to solve the uncertainty problem caused by small samples and lack of information in conducting camouflage effect evaluation.There are many matrix operations in the process of camouflage effect evaluation, so MATLAB software is used to ensure the accuracy of the evaluation results. And finally, a evaluation system is developed by using graphical user interface module.A multi-level evaluation system is built in this article by analyzing various factors which will impact the camouflage effect based on gray theory. Determine the size of the weights of evaluation index by the entropy method, and then evaluate the camouflage effect using the gray assessment techniques.
