The Gongbei Zhuhai A Municipal Engineering Project Cost Management Analysis

With the development of urban construction management, the quantity ofmunicipal works has been sharply increasing. As market economy system reform isdeepening unceasingly and tender system is improving gradually, productionoperation management system with the core of construction project management hasbeen established and has been improving constantly. The municipal works formerlydesignated by the government have been launched into market and are run asindustrial enterprises, facing opportunities and chanllenges at the same time. The costmanagement of municipal works projects is of great significance to cut down costs,increase profits, and win more market share. The cost management and control ofmunicipal works are now confronted with huge difficulties and chanllenges.The author, by reference to relevant liturature, selects the cost management ofmunicipal works projects as the topic of the thesis based on her work experience. Shesummerizes domestic and oversea research on the cost management of municipalworks with an analysis of its shortcomings, and goes through the contents of research.Besides, the author summerizes methods of project cost management and theories ofproject management and integrates them in an effective way, which provides theoreticbasis for such research. In addition, the author makes an introduction to actualsituations of cost management of Zhuhai Gongbei A Municipal Work Corporation,analyzes the existing problems, and puts forward measures for effective improvementof cost management of the Station in terms of project management system and controlmethod. Finally, the author applies theories and methods of cost management to aspecific construction project of Zhuhai Gongbei Municipal Works Station where costmanagement and control is fulfilled and goal of project management is realized byestablishing scientific and effective cost management system and adopting theanalysis method of earned value.
