At present, with the increasingly fierce of economic globalization, the marketcompetition is becoming unprecedented fierce. The survival pressure faced bymanufacturing enterprises in our country is also growing, particularly those small andmedium-sized enterprises, whose initial size were small, while the expansion speed areoften very fast. Due to the lack of rational planning, which leading to plant facilitylayout confusion and logistics costs in highly, thus affecting the product manufacturingcost, it has restricted the long-term development of enterprises seriously. Plant facilitylayout is reasonable or not has a very important influence on the overall plant operations,excellent Plant facility layout is the source of increasing corporate profits.In view of the above background, using the plant facility layout and simulationoptimization related theory, combined with problems existing in current facility layoutof a discrete processing factory. The main research content are as follows, and expectingto provide feasible solutions for plant facility layout improvement of small andmedium-sized discrete processing plant. First of all, the paper had established theQuadratic Assignment Problem(QAP) and unequal area facility layout of multi linemathematical model by analyzing the facility layout problem combined with the currentarrangement of discrete processing plant. Secondly, the Genetic Algorithm had beenembedded into the Plant Simulation software, a simulation optimization method of plantfacility layout improvement based on the Genetic Algorithm and computer simulationanalysis had been built. Third, taking the current plant facility layout of an auto partsmanufacturing enterprise in Hefei as research object of study, the general plant layoutand the facility layout of typical mechanical processing workshop were optimized byusing simulation optimization method. The results showed the feasibility andeffectiveness of simulation optimization method which put forward in this paper whensolving facility layout improvement problem of discrete processing plant. Finally, Inorder to meet the needs of subsequent flexible plant layout improvement, the simulationoptimization method of plant facility layout improvement were integrated by usingSimTalk simulation program language in Plant Simulation software, and then the plantfacility layout improved system was developed.
