As hydraulic endeavors thrive in our country, increasing efforts have been continuously put into the investment of hydraulic construction projects. Hydraulic construction in our country is advancing towards a scientific, reasonable, and sustainable direction, which renders a higher demand on hydraulic evaluations. Along with the growing scale of modern hydraulic constructions is the increasing number of large-scale hydraulic projects. Due to the complexity of hydraulic construction and existence of multiple impacting factors, the determination of an appropriate construction schedule is usually difficult. As such, it is imperative to assess hydraulic project schedules to adapt to new fashions, improve the efficiency and effectiveness of hydraulic construction schedules, and subsequently enhance management as well as economic and social benefits. The objective of this study is to explore comprehensive and effective hydraulic project schedules. This article starts with the introduction of current developing status of hydraulic projects and construction characteristics, followed by a generalization of multiple attribute decision making theory and current status of hydraulic evaluation studies. This serves the theoretical foundation upon which to build models for hydraulic construction schedule evaluation. Then the hydraulic project schedule evaluating index system was established based on evaluative index system building principles, combining characteristics of hydraulic construction and impacting factors of hydraulic project schedule evaluation with corresponding categorization. With the reference to the multiple attributes decision making theory, a mathematical model was built using entropy method and linearity weighted method for hydraulic project schedule evaluation. The established model was then applied within Matlab software towards a real evaluation of hydraulic project schedule. This article is grounded on the Nuozhadu Hydropower Project to compare the three early-stage schedule plans, which were evaluated based on the established evaluating system using entropy method and linearity weighted method. The evaluating index weights were also adjusted for analysis, resulting in the finalization of the11.5years’schedule as the best plan. This serves as a solid reference for selecting project construction schedule. The study result suggested the effectiveness and appropriateness of applying multiple attributes decision making model for hydraulic project schedule plan selection. This method generated superior selection and provided a new perspective for evaluating hydraulic project schedule plan.
