With the rapid growth of domestic demand for power, customers are requesting more not only on the quality and reliability ofpower, but also on the intelligent electricity.At the same time, State Grid Corporation of China and local power supply companies have new requirements for the automation of distribution network. That makes the ongoing hot topic of research in automation issues get further warming. At present, distribution automation is generally defined as a unified system which can monitor and manage the power distribution equipment remotely. It embodies how modern computer technology and communication technology apply to distribution network. The proper research and the implementation of distribution automation can effectively improve the reliability of distribution network and quality of power supply. In addition, they may also contribute to the construction of intelligent electricity and guarantee the legal interest of both power suppliers and the customers.This thesis is based on the experience my colleagues and I have in a pilot project of distribution automation system of Zhuji. It introduces the prior research work and practical application of distribution automation system in Zhuji city; analyzes the definition, theoretical significance and main function of distribution automation; discusses the good power distribution network structure of city and corresponding protection configuration scheme. On that basis, more discussion includes the accomplishment of distribution automation, its basic functions, the basic principle of distribution feeder automation, and the main means of communication. Next part is about the verification of the current situation of distribution network and distribution equipment in pilot area. The construction demand in this area becomes clear. Then, the author puts forward the comprehensive solutions, which is informationization within the pilot area; distribution automation with distributed concept; and management integration.Considering the geographical features each site in pilot area, the combination of Ethernet passive optical network optical fiber network, smart grid broadband wireless network and power line carrier is adopted for communication. Also taking into account the development of feeder automation technology and the actual situation of Zhuji pilot area, I give the idea that will realize the self-healing network function in power supply area that requires high reliability. It can be accomplished in the way, which is master station uses the integrated feeder automation mainly, while switch station uses local feeder automation auxiliary.The thesis, taking the current pilot area in Zhuji as an example, states the design of the construction scheme of distribution automation system. The design scheme is guided by the supervisors inside and outside the school, and completed after deep discussion with some senior engineers who are very experienced in distribution automation system. This research may provide practical and feasible reference to distribution automation construction in the city.
