The main electrical connection is a major component of power system, its function is to transfer and delivery of electrical energy. The security and stable operation of the main electrical connection have a great impact on the power system.Once the operation stability of the main electrical connection is destroyed, so the stability of the power system will also decline, and even the system will collapse.Therefore the quantitative analysis of the main electrical connection reliability is an important study of power system reliability fields.Reliability of the main electrical connection can be divided into planning reliability and operation reliability. The planning reliability is based on the constant component reliability parameters to calculate system reliability index, this assessment method is based on offline to analyze and compare the several main electrical connection running ways. The purpose is to select the best running program, which is the decision-making basis for planning staff. The operation reliability is based on the operating state-based of the device. it is based on the online way to quickly assess the reliability of the system, and then to provide a basis decision-making operation for scheduling staff.For the planning reliability section,based on the contact number theory,this article proposed approach to uncertainties of main electrical connection reliability assessment, which will deal with the reliability parameters into contact number,taking parameter uncertainty into consideration in the calculation process.At the same time, Combined with the method of minimum cut sets, the main electrical connection system reliability evaluation model and algorithm for reliability index in the form of contact number is given based on the theory of contact number.Compared with the conventional reliability evaluation methods, this method can reflect the original parameter uncertainty of comprehensive impact on the reliability index and index of probability distribution and can more precisely describe the truth of the main connection reliability.For operational reliability part, based on the operation condition’s impact of the component failure rate, this article establish the model of the main connection component in short-term operational reliability and calculate the probability of each component of the transient state. At the same time, combined with the state-space method, the main electrical connection short-term operational reliability index is calculated. And dispatchers will make rational decisions in the short term planning and online operation.
